About Me

I’m Ms. Smolko, and I’m from Chicago, Illinois (Da Bears!) and moved down to Georgia after being too cold all the time. Later, I graduated from Sprayberry High School and made the best decision of my life by going to college to become a teacher when my dreams of winning Survivor seemed out-of-reach. I attended Kennesaw State University for my Bachelor’s in English Education and graduated with Honors. This is my second year at Allatoona where I am a ninth grade teacher and a coach for varsity basketball cheerleading! When I am not in the classroom, I can be found in the sale racks of Urban Outfitters, practicing yoga and pilates, or blogging about the last novel I read. I am well-versed in postmodern literature and horror movies and am very average at mini-golf. I live in Kennesaw with my cute mutt, Bentley, who is not that photogenic.

I am a 2017 Fellow of the National Writing Project & am AP Language Certified.

I once won Teacher of the Month, so I’m pretty much a big deal.
